That's right, it's confirmed. PlayStation are going to be releasing Downloadable Content for NEW Multiplayer Resident Evil 5 modes. By the looks of things, we're going to be able to enjoy Slayer mode, Team Slayer mode, Survival mode, and Versus mode. I'm not sure at this point if XBox are also getting this content, but as soon as I find out I'll post it here.
If you want the proof, then check out the new DLC Trophy list on our Trophy and Achievement page.

Resident Evil 4 was a controversial game. It had it's good side, like the near perfect IGN rating, or the "crown of shooting games" according to most gaming sites. But with that, came it's negatives. Resident Evil fans criticized the story line, and the enemies. They don't want villagers with real-life personalities. They want half eaten zombies, who although don't have the brains, can still scare the hell out of you. I tend to fall in the middle. I remember at a young age, playing Resident Evil 1,2, and 3 on my Ps1, and not being able to sleep the next month. I miss getting scared to the point where I couldn't enter a dark room without somebody else with me. As great as Resident Evil 4 was, it wasn't scary at all. The story, while hefty, didn't follow along with the other games. With the villagers unknown mumbling, Leon's cheesy acting, and Ashley's annoying screeching, it was more of a humorous sign. I think Resident Evil 5, is trying to fit both the quick action shooting fans, and the horror zombie loving guys. The enemies on 5, while not as intimidating as your old school creepers, definitely have an advantage over the villagers. The intelligence that you get on this game from the enemy is scary in itself. The realness of the African somethings is startling, but amazing. The bigger enemies, like the chainsaw guy, and the big daddy from the demos, are also a step up from the last installment. While I will admit that nothing beats the old school Tyrant, or the Albinoid from RE Code Veronica, these things are pretty bad ass.
From what I've read, there are some people that are already upset. The movement will take some getting used to, and Resident Evil still doesn't have a moving shot. While I think shooting a gun standing still adds more to the intensity, the same people that are crying for the old Resident Evil, want new movements. The knife, as always, is your key weapon. Slashing right away from the beginning is the safest thing to do, since ammo on this game is more scarce (unlike RE 4, where ammo was basically handed out).
My favorite Resident Evil game was Code Veronica, which happens to be the lowest rated out of the series. My least favorite was 0, simply because the setting didn't jump at me that much. When 4 came out, it was something I had never seen before. The graphics blew me away, the over the head firing was unreal, and the specific details of the enemy made my jaw drop. The thing that killed me was the lack of storyline. I beat the game in one day, followed by me beating it another 3 times in a week, to get the infinite rocket launcher. It's now to the point where I can beat it in 2.5 hours, and still have time for another one. I'm not saying it's Capcom's fault, it's obvious that when you play a game a lot, you beat it quicker. All I'm asking is for a longer scenario. As amazing as the game was, the shortness of it makes me put it down within a few months playing it. From what I hear, the story for RE 5 is very lengthy, so I'm glad they addressed one of my few concerns.
As a fan who personally believes that they should go back to zombies (a way more intelligent version), I have posted all the Resident Evil games, and rated them on a scale to 1-10. This is my opinion on the past, and what the newest will shape up to be.
Resident Evil 1: I play it now, and laugh, but back in the late 90's, this game was elite. It really opens up to what the series is about, and is by far the most important game in the series. From the Kenneth eating zombie looking at you, to seeing Enrico get shot by Wesker, this game frightened me to death. The story was very lengthy, and tough to beat, which is my type of game. Like I said, this laid the foundation to the Resident Evil series.
my rating: 8.
Resident Evil 2: same as 1, a masterpiece. The setting was the best out of any RE game. While I wasn't a big fan of Leon Kennedy, I did love the story line. After playing this game, I realized that Resident Evil was going to be a worldwide phenomenon.
my rating: 8
Resident Evil 3: Had it's frights, but wasn't as good as the first 2. The nemesis was an amazing boss, and I had a great time finishing this game. This is the type of Resident Evil I want to see today.
my rating: 7
Resident Evil 0: Billy is my least favorite character out of the series, and Rebecca wasn't a fan favorite either. The zombies weren't as frightening as the older ones, and the dimness of the train was annoying. I never got into the story, which was a first for me, and I didn't feel that much joy after I finished it. It definitely had it's parts, but felt like a gimmick to me.
my rating: 6
REmake: Never fully finished it, but loved what I did play of it. Wasn't as good as the original, but the graphics were mind blowing. I don't like how they tweaked the original story a little bit, but still a great game.
my rating: 7.5
RE 4: On graphics alone, it gets an 8. I think this game is really what set the Resident Evil series in stone. Before, it was for zombie lovers, and horror geeks like me. But I think this game is what made it for everybody. Anybody that enjoyed busting caps on a video game loved this. The details were simply stunning. I wasn't a fan of the story, how they seemed to take a totally different turn, but it was still an amazing game. Ganado's were alright, I liked the intelligence, but no horror there. Great game though, one of my favorites.
my rating: 8.5
RE Code Veronica: My personal favorite, and the scariest. The jumping I did while playing this was insane. Creepy Alfred Ashford was the best villain out of any of the RE games, in my opinion. The cameo by Wesker was totally worthwhile, and the storyline was the lengthiest, and the best. I had the funnest time of my life soaring through this game. It isn't the most popular, but if you've never played it before, I recommend picking it up with RE5.
my rating: 10
Now that you know how I feel on the games of the past, lets see how I feel this new one will add up. I can see this being the best game ever. I've been waiting since 05 for the release, and the thought of it finally coming is making me excited as we speak. The online play is a huge upgrade, and the fact that you are with a partner the whole time makes it even better. The story seems amazing, whether you are into the setting are not. The guns seems to be bad ass from what I've heard, and videos of numerous enemies look great. From the demo I played, this game is going down in history.
my predicted rating: infinite.
That's all I have for now, it's just me blabbing basically.
So.. I've just finished playing the Resident Evil 5 Demo on PS3. First of all I would like to say I absolutely love where they've taken it. The co-op mode is fantastic, the new inventory system is a breath of fresh air compared to the classic Resident Evil luggage system and the AI is magnificent. Here's my initial thoughts.
Chris Is Bad Ass
From the looks of his humongous biceps, Chris has been working out (Or more realistically, Capcom wanted to buff our hero up to GOW proportions). Capcom have stated that they have always been massive Gears of War fans, so the new look for Chris really doesn't surprise me - and I welcome the change. Next up it's Chris' bad ass moves. Ever fancied stomping on a zombies head? Chris has. Not only that, but he can now uppercut and straight punch - throw in Ada's roundhouse kick from Resident Evil 4 (we can always hope) and it could feel like we're playing Chuck Norris' Zombie Adventure. I can't think of much else I would rather do that run through levels uppercutting every zombie into oblivion.
Sheeva ain't too bad either..
Now I'm not the greatest AI fan. There's nothing more annoying than getting screwed by fucking stupid AI "team mates" that do nothing but get in the way of your bullets, block the path through doors and get themselves owned. Ashley from resident Evil 4 anyone? Oh my god she was dumb. But the feel of Sheeva is much better in my opinion. The shear fact that you can trade items with her so effortlessly really makes it feel like "team work". I love the way you can monitor each others inventories easily, and if you spot something like a herb and you know Sheeva needs it, just hit O and bam.. She picks it up. I also love that if I'm running away from old one-eye frantically trying to reload, Sheeva brightens my day by spraying me with some herb juice (I'm glad it's now a spray, eating herbs in the classic Resident Evil games did not really appeal to me. Fantastic improvement, good job Capcom.
Chainsaw's are BAD
One thing that I'm also very happy about is the difficulty of "Shanty Town". As a Resident Evil 4 veteran, I was thinking this demo was going to be cake.. and I was wrong. It took me around 4 or 5 tries to down old one-eye (the chainsaw guy) which was a pleasant surprise considering that the chainsaw enemies in Resi 4 were so easy. When I took my adventure online however it seemed to get even harder - I think the guys I got matched up with were either total noobs, or they thought they were playing Call of Duty. At the beginning of every game, my partner whips out his machine gun and runs straight into action. He misses all the crates, barrels and herbs and then proceeds to pump his whole clip into the first couple of zombies in a bloody rage. By the time we get to old one-eye, my partner is running around with 5 bullets in his pistol like a moron. If you want to do well in this game in co-op, play with your friends and get a headset - don't trust the matchmaking.
"I gotta' stab her 3 times?"
So how cool is the new lifeline system? When you're playing solo and Sheeva gets owned by one-eye, that's it - you need to start over. But when you're playing online and your partner gets owned, you have a few seconds to come to their rescue. If you're nearby you can press R1 to target them, run for it and deliver what seems to be a nice adrenaline shot (Pulp Fiction anyone..?). I think you can also save them with herb sprays if you have any, I'll have to have another look at it. If you pull it off, you and your partner can retreat to safety - if not you'll probably end up getting owned yourself.
So that's my initial thoughts on what I've seen so far in the demo. I'll be uploading short guides on each level in the guide section soon (after I write them of course) for anyone having trouble clearing Shanty Town. I didn't have much trouble clearing the other level as all you had to do pretty much was survive for a certain amount of time but I'll upload a guide for that one as well. So please keep checking back, and of course I'm still looking for people to help out here with articles, reviews etc. you can e-mail me here at J.Burleigh1@gmail.com
So February the 2nd is finally here - and with it comes the Resident Evil 5 demo for PS3, available to download for free on PSN. At the moment I dont have access to my playstation, but as soon as I'm home I'll be downloading and blasting zombies left right and center. Expect full coverage and guides coming for the demo very soon. I'll be analyzing exactly how the new action system works compared to RE4, if I like it, what's good and what needs improved. So keep checking back!
As of tomorrow, xbox users all around the country will be able to download Resident Evil 5, the demo. The demo features 2 levels of action packed zombie blasting fun - all of which can be played on co-op! One player will take on the role of Chris Redfield, and another will play as Sheeva. As I dont have an xbox 360 myself, I'll be relying on you guys to send me as much info as possible and I'll get it all posted up. As always you can e-mail me at J.Burleigh1@gmail.com
It has been revealed that the Collectors Edition of Resident Evil 5 is to be launched alongside the normal version on Friday 13th, March. For a neat price of $89.99 or £59.99 you can expect a whole bundle of Resident Evil 5 goodies. Of course you'll receive the basic "Making of" Bonus disc with a digital art gallery included, but the real joy is in the extras. You'll receive your very own Resident Evil 5, Chris Redfield figurine. A Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance patch. An Africa-shaped pendant bearing the game's mysterious "Kijuju" mantra. And a trendy messenger bag bearing the logo of Tricell, Inc., a company somehow tied to the strange behavior of the game's inhabitants. So what do you think? Will you be grabbing yourself a Resi 5 Collectors Edition?
According to capcom, the Resident Evil 5 playable demo is at last coming to both xBox 360 and PS3. It has been live on Japanese xBox Live since December, but if you don't speak japanese setting up an account can be tricky. Gold xBox Live members can pick the Resident Evil 5 demo up on January 26, and the rest of us can download it a week later - on the 3rd Feb - for both xBox and Playstation 3!
The playable levels are both set in African locales, most likely the scenes that we have already seen in the Gameplay trailers.
